The Most Famous Designers

Scandinavian design, synonymous with elegance, functionality, and simplicity, owes much of its fame to exceptional talents such as Arne Jacobsen, Finn Juhl, and Hans J. Wegner. These three Danish designers revolutionised the world of furniture in the 20th century, leaving behind timeless creations that continue to inspire today. Their works, characterised by clean lines, natural materials, and meticulous attention to detail, embody the very essence of Scandinavian design.

Arne Jacobsen: The Master of the Egg
Arne Jacobsen, architect and designer, is known for his bold and functional creations. His "Egg" chair, designed for the Radisson Blu Royal Hotel in Copenhagen, has become an icon of modern design. Jacobsen also designed many other pieces of furniture, lighting, and objects for his architectural projects, including the "Series 7" chair and the "AJ" cutlery. His holistic approach to design, integrating architecture, furniture, and objects, has left an indelible mark on the Danish urban landscape.

Finn Juhl: The Poet of Furniture
Finn Juhl, considered one of the most expressive designers of the 20th century, was a true artist of furniture. His creations, often organic and sculptural, testify to a great sensitivity and a deep understanding of materials. The "Chieftain" chair and the "45" chair are among his most famous works. Juhl pushed the boundaries of design by creating furniture that was both aesthetic and comfortable.

Hans J. Wegner: The Master of the Chair
Hans J. Wegner is often nicknamed "the master of the chair" because of the diversity and quality of his creations. His chairs, characterised by simple and elegant forms, are made with great technical mastery. The pair of JH-513 armchairs is one of the most popular seats in the world. Wegner collaborated with many craftsmen and always sought to create furniture that was both beautiful and functional.

These three designers, among many others, have helped to make Scandinavian design a recognised and appreciated lifestyle worldwide. Their legacy continues to live on through our Maison, which is passionately committed to selecting and restoring the most iconic creations of these artists, adding our distinctive touch and Norki signature.
