Folke Ohlsson, born in 1919, is a widely recognised Swedish furniture designer known for his contribuIons to mid-20th-century modern furniture.

His journey began alongside his father, a professional cabinetmaker. A.er studying architecture at Lund University in Sweden, Folke Ohlsson immigrated to the United States in 1953.

He received training at the School of Industrial Design Society of Gothenburg before joining the renowned Swedish furniture manufacturer, Dux Incorporated.

Dux gained parIcular acclaim by popularising the concept of "knock-down" furniture, highlighIng innovaIve flat-pack manufacturing and shipping methods. Folke Ohlsson's armchairs and sofas stand out for their elegant blend of tradiIonal 1960s details and modernist simplicity. Among his most famous designs are the Scandia chair, the Ingrid chair, and the Scissor Chair.

His work significantly contributed to the rise of modern Scandinavian design. Today, his creaIons conInue to arract design enthusiasts and are sought a.er by collectors of vintage furniture.
