Oiva Parviainen was a Finnish interior architect and designer from the mid-20th century, renowned for his contributions to affordable furniture design for homes. He notably collaborated with the Finnish company Lahden Lepokalusto, where he designed the 'Susanna' furniture line. This collection was featured in the company's first catalog and met with immediate success among customers and the press.
Gifted in drawing, he was admitted in 1955 to the interior design department at the School of Applied Arts in the Lahti region. Among his classmates were future renowned designers such as Yrjö Kukkapuro, with whom he became very close. In 1958, he founded a design firm named Finn-Forms in Lahti.
Among his notable creations are the 'Susanna' armchairs, appreciated for their high-quality craftsmanship and comfort. Norki, a lover of the world's finest vintage pieces, gave a second life to one of these Susanna armchairs by upholstering it with Beige tinted Australian Curly Shearling.
Other armchairs designed by Oiva Parviainen for Lepokalusto include the Export armchair, the Pikku-Linna reclining chair, the Bella armchair with metal legs, and many more.
