Gillis Lundgren was a Swedish designer and architect, best known for his pivotal role in creating functional and iconic furniture. Joining IKEA in its early days in 1953, he was one of the company's first employees, leaving a profound and lasting impact. A visionary, he introduced the revolutionary concept of flat-pack furniture, enabling easy transportation and cost reduction. Among his most famous creations is the Billy bookcase, a timeless classic that epitomizes Scandinavian design.

Beyond his commercial successes, Lundgren stood out for his forward-thinking approach, blending simplicity, durability, and aesthetics. His designs have influenced generations and continue to be celebrated for their timeless appeal.

The Impala Armchair

The Impala armchair, one of Gillis Lundgren’s most iconic pieces, showcases his talent for combining comfort and elegance. With its clean lines and robust construction, this armchair is a true masterpiece of Scandinavian design, remaining true to the functional spirit of its creator.

We were honored to acquire an Impala armchair, an exceptional piece that we then meticulously restored in our workshop. Through careful craftsmanship, our Maison revived this creation while preserving its original design, maintaining its authenticity, and enhancing the details that make it a true icon.
