The origins of the Scandinavian armchair
As with Scandinavian design, the history of the Scandinavian armchair dates to the early 20th century, with influences from the late 19th-century British Arts & Crafts movement. By incorporating modern touches, renowned Scandinavian designers developed a distinctive and recognizable style. Wingback chairs, lounge chairs, rocking chairs, Egg chairs... made from solid wood, laminate, oak or walnut, upholstered in leather, fur, or other natural materials, these creations revive the elegance of a bygone era.
